| OVERVIEW |
| The envisaged role of C- DOC to assist the commercial
diving industry to embark on a program increasing the health and safety of
members in diving operations and to ensure an easily accessible service for
education, training, development and consultation in diving health and safety
by establishing a network that the design strategy may be measurable to
evaluate trends and successes in the field for future decision making. |
| It has been recognized that diving supervisors and diver medics
are accountable for the safe performance of their respective areas of
responsibility and must regularly measure and report their achievement to
protect the members in the work place from recognized hazards which are likely
to cause illness, injury or death.

| With the expanding commercial diving opportunities C- DOC has
taken on a new approach of looking at supporting Diving Health and Safety and
is focusing on certain aspects.
|
| The objective is to assist diving companies, supervisors and
Diver Medics to achieve policy compliance, to provide assurance that risks are
being identified, assessed and managed and to identify opportunities for
improved performance and operational readiness.

| Through training and the introduction
of the 24-hour commercial diving medical hotline one can assist in the
preparation of unforeseen medical emergencies. |

| 3. First Aid/Medical Equipment |
| To ensure minimum requirements,
with regards to first aid kits and additional medical equipment (especially
oxygen), are available for vessels, operational dive sites (inland and
